Book WaxingBefore Your Appointment
Proper preparation helps you get the best results from your waxing appointment. Follow these steps for a comfortable, effective session.
Hair Length
Allow approximately 2-3 weeks of growth after your last shave. Hair should be about 6 mm (one-quarter inch) long roughly the length of a grain of rice. Hair that is too short may not be effectively removed. Hair that is too long can be trimmed beforehand for comfort.
Exfoliate
Gently exfoliate the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. This removes dead skin cells, releases trapped hairs, and helps the wax grip the hair more effectively. Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt. Do not exfoliate on the day of your appointment.
Skin Preparation
Arrive with clean, dry skin. Avoid applying lotions, oils, deodorant, perfume, or makeup to the treatment area on the day of your appointment. Clean skin allows the wax to adhere properly to the hair.
What to Wear
Wear loose, breathable clothing to your appointment. For leg or bikini appointments, avoid wearing tight pants or jeans immediately after treatment. Soft cotton underwear or loose athletic wear is recommended.
Pain Management
If you are concerned about discomfort, avoid caffeine for a few hours before your appointment. The skin may be more sensitive during the days leading up to and during your menstrual cycle. Many clients find that regular appointments every 4-6 weeks become progressively more comfortable as hair regrowth becomes finer and sparser.
During Your Period
You can still receive waxing services during your period. Wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup to your appointment and let your esthetician know. The skin may be more sensitive at this time. If you prefer to reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours\' notice.
After Your Appointment
Following these aftercare guidelines helps keep your skin smooth, comfortable, and free of irritation.
DO
- Keep skin hydrated. Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or pure aloe vera gel to soothe the treated area.
- Wear loose clothing. Avoid anything tight or synthetic for 24-48 hours to let the skin breathe.
- Apply sunscreen. Newly waxed skin is more sensitive to sun exposure. Use SPF 30 or higher on exposed areas.
- Take cool showers. Avoid hot water on treated areas for 24 hours.
- Gently exfoliate after 48 hours. Once the skin has settled, resume gentle exfoliation 2-3 times per week to help prevent ingrown hairs.
DON'T
- No hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms for 24-48 hours. Heat can irritate freshly waxed skin.
- No heavy exercise or swimming for 24 hours. Sweat, chlorine, and friction can irritate the skin and lead to breakouts.
- No exfoliation for 48 hours after your appointment.
- No makeup on waxed facial areas for at least 12 hours. Let the skin breathe and recover.
- No sunbathing, tanning beds, or self-tanner for 48 hours after treatment.
- No scented products including perfumes, deodorant, or heavily fragranced lotions on treated areas for 24 hours.

Waxing Preparation FAQ
How long should my hair be before waxing?
Hair should be approximately 6 mm (one-quarter inch) long about the length of a grain of rice. This typically means 2-3 weeks of growth after your last shave. Hair that is too short may not grip the wax properly. If hair is longer than approximately 12 mm, it can be trimmed before your appointment.
Can I get waxed during my period?
Yes. Wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup and let your esthetician know. The skin may be more sensitive, but the service can still be performed. If you prefer to reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours\' notice.
How long does waxing last compared to shaving?
Waxing removes hair from the root, so regrowth takes 3-6 weeks depending on your individual hair growth cycle. Shaving cuts hair at the skin surface, so stubble returns in 1-3 days. With regular waxing every 4-6 weeks, regrowth becomes progressively finer and sparser.
Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker?
No. This is a common misconception. Waxing removes hair from the root, which can actually lead to finer, sparser regrowth over time. Shaving blunts the hair tip, which can make regrowth feel coarser, but waxing does not cause thicker hair.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?
Gently exfoliate the treated area 2-3 times per week starting 48 hours after your appointment. Keep skin moisturized with a light, fragrance-free lotion. Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the skin for 24-48 hours. If you are prone to ingrown hairs, ask your esthetician about additional recommendations at your appointment.
I have sensitive skin can I still get waxed?
Many clients with sensitive skin wax successfully. Let your esthetician know about any sensitivities, allergies, or skin conditions before your appointment. A patch test or consultation may help identify the best approach. If you use prescription topical medications (such as retinoids or Accutane), disclose this during booking waxing may not be suitable for certain medication users.
How often should I book waxing appointments?
Every 4-6 weeks is typical for most body areas. Facial areas such as brows and upper lip may need appointments every 2-4 weeks. Consistent scheduling produces the best long-term results. After several regular appointments, many clients can extend to 5-6 weeks between visits.
What should I avoid before a waxing appointment?
